RentRedi Review: One Price, However Many Doors You Own

RentRedi Review

Almost every landlord platform charges by the door. Add a rental, pay again.

RentRedi does not, and once you understand what that single decision does to the arithmetic, everything else about the product becomes secondary. This RentRedi review starts with the maths rather than the feature list.

What a Flat Rate Actually Buys You

Units you ownRentRedi per unitA per unit rivalA base plus unit rival
1$12.00$9.00$30.00
2$6.00$9.00$16.00
5$2.40$9.00$7.60
10$1.20$9.00$4.80
20$0.60$9.00$3.40

Ten properties costs $1.20 per unit a month here. A typical per unit rival wants nine dollars.

The annual plan is $144, and unlimited properties, tenants and teammates are included, so the cost per unit is simply $144 divided by twelve months divided by however many doors you have.

Run that out and the curve gets steep quickly. At five units you are paying $2.40 per unit a month, at twenty you are paying 60 cents, and a landlord with fifty doors is paying 24 cents per unit per month for software a per unit competitor would bill at nine dollars.

Now the honest half of that table.

If you own exactly one rental, the flat rate is the wrong shape and a per unit service at nine dollars a month beats it by three dollars, so the break even sits between one and two properties, which means this is a tool for somebody who already owns a second door or expects to buy one.

The Three Plans Are Not Close

PlanPer monthTotal paidVersus monthly
Monthly$29.95$359.40 a year-
Six months$20.00$240.00 a yearSave $119.40
Annual$12.00$144.00 a yearSave $215.40

Paying monthly costs $359.40 a year. Paying annually costs $144. That is 59.9% more for the convenience.

The gap between the plans is unusually wide, wider than almost any subscription we have priced out, and it means the headline $29.95 figure you see quoted in comparison articles is the most expensive way to hold this product.

There is a 30 day money back guarantee, which takes most of the risk out of committing to the year upfront.

The Cost Nobody Prints on the Pricing Page

What the tenant pays to payFeeOn $2,000 rent
Bank transfer or eCheck$1.00 flat$12 a year
Credit or debit card3.1% plus $0.30$747.60 a year
Screening report$39.99Paid by applicant
Screening with income check$49.99Paid by applicant

A card payment on $2,000 rent costs $62.30 a month. That is 5.2 times the whole annual subscription, every year.

Rent payment fees fall on the tenant by default, and the difference between the two methods is enormous rather than marginal.

A bank transfer costs a flat dollar. A card payment on a $2,000 rent costs 3.1% plus thirty cents, which is $62.30 a month and $747.60 across a year, so a tenant paying by card spends more on convenience fees than the landlord spends on the entire platform five times over.

Push bank transfer, hard. The landlord can also absorb the dollar fee to remove any reason for a tenant to reach for a card, and on a single unit that costs twelve dollars a year, which is the cheapest goodwill available anywhere in this category.

Tenant screening is $39.99, or $49.99 with income verification, and is paid by the applicant rather than by you.

Where the Reviews Land

Trustpilot shows 4.0 out of 5 from 287 reviews, with 61% at five stars and 21% at one star, and the company answers 100% of the negative ones.

Averaging that distribution by hand gives 3.80 against a displayed 4.0, so recent reviewers are marginally happier than historic ones rather than the reverse, which is the direction you want.

  1. Praise centres on a clean interface and responsive support
  2. Complaints centre on payments taking two to three days to land
  3. Maintenance coordination draws slower vendor scheduling reports
  4. Reaching a live agent is described as harder than email

One Number Worth Watching

The Better Business Bureau file is the part of the research that gave us pause.

The company is accredited and holds an A rating, and 37 complaints have been filed over three years, which is modest for a platform of this size. The distribution inside that total is what matters, because 29 of those 37 closed in the last twelve months alone, which is 78.4% of three years of complaints landing in one of them.

Product issues lead at 15 and billing issues follow at 11.

A growing platform naturally generates more complaints as it adds users, so this is not proof of decline on its own, and it is also not the pattern of a service that is getting quieter. Worth checking again before a renewal.

Who Should Buy

Buy if you own two or more rentals, you will pay annually rather than monthly, and you can get your tenants onto bank transfer instead of card.

Look elsewhere if you own a single property, if you need same day rent settlement, or if you want maintenance coordination handled by somebody else, since that is the part of the service reviewers criticise most often.

Seven and a half out of ten. The flat rate is the whole argument and it is a strong one, taking the cost per unit to $1.20 at ten doors and 60 cents at twenty, with unlimited tenants and teammates, a 30 day guarantee, 4.0 on Trustpilot from 287 reviews and a 100% reply rate. What pulls it back is two to three day payment settlement, a maintenance service that draws consistent criticism, and 29 of 37 BBB complaints arriving in the last twelve months. Anyone reading a RentRedi review should pay annually, own more than one door, and steer tenants to bank transfer.
