About Hyperice
After hard training sessions, I feel completely exhausted due to sore muscles. But it’s not just physical exertion that gets to me, but also stress and too much sitting.
Hyperice develops high-tech orthopaedic devices that prevent injuries and accelerate muscle recovery. The products are ideal for athletes and active adults who want to move more and feel better.
To get a feel for the brand, I discovered that it has a whopping 535,000 followers on Instagram. With the brand being associated with some of the biggest names in sports, including Lebron James, Naomi Osaka and Patrick Mahomes, it’s not hard to see why. The company also works with major sports leagues like the MLB, NBA and NFL, which naturally made me curious.
If you are too, stay tuned. In this review of Hyperice, I’ll take an in-depth look at their best-selling products, customer reviews and more so you can decide if they’re really worth the hype.
Overview of Hyperice
The founder of Hyperice, Anthony Katz, got the ball rolling after showing New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez his new post-workout recovery method.
Katz’s process intrigued Sanchez and prompted the athlete to invest in Hyperice a year later in 2012. The company gained traction, and NBA star Blake Griffin also got involved.
Hyperice’s mission is to help elite athletes, fitness junkies and average athletes feel better after strenuous exercise[1]. They believe that exercise and quality of life are one and the same, and are dedicated to “combining science and physiology to support and improve the human condition”[2].
Before I get into the products in this Hyperice review, I’ll first share some highlights of the brand.

- High-tech devices proven to relieve muscle soreness
- Attachments offer various treatment options
- Suitable for both professionals and fitness novices
- All devices come with a 1-year warranty

Next, in this Hyperice review, I will introduce a range of the brand’s devices and foam rollers that support post-workout recovery. These models soothe sore muscles while being lightweight, comfortable and easy to use. Let’s kick it up a notch and get started.
Hyperice Review
Injury prevention and a proactive approach to recovery are important to stay in fighting shape. In terms of delayed onset muscle soreness, this study[3] found that massage appears to be the most effective method of reducing this problem, and treating muscle soreness with compression techniques has also been documented as beneficial.
In the following section of this Hyperice review, I present the brand’s best-selling percussion devices, which are perfect for sports therapists or athletes on the go.
Hyperice Hypervolt GO Review

The first device is the Hyperice Hypervolt GO. It is a tissue massage device that can be used at home or on the go as it is portable and cordless.
Impact massagers have many benefits, such as reducing inflammation, removing fluids from the muscles into the circulation and relaxing the muscles. In this case, the benefit of reducing muscle soreness and tension is most important.
This study[4] was the first to investigate the effect of a 5-minute massage on muscle performance. A significant increase in range of motion was found, so a treatment regimen that includes impact massage is recommended to optimize an athlete’s flexibility.
The Hypervolt GO provides the right amount of power in a quiet package. It weighs only 1.5 pounds and is 30% smaller than the original Hypervolt. It’s perfect for someone like me who is always on the go, and it’s easy to transport since it’s TSA approved.
The features of the Hypervolt GO are:
- A high-torque 40W motor with QuietGlide technology
- Three different speed settings
- Two attachments
- A rechargeable 18V battery that provides 2.5 hours of use
Hyperice Plus Review

With its 90-watt motor, the Hyperice Hypervolt Plus is perfect for deep tissue massages that quickly relieve your pain. The ergonomic design also allows you to relax your muscles[6] anytime, anywhere.
Another Hyperice massager that anyone can easily use. I imagined how effortlessly I could reach my shoulder, which I can barely massage on my own.
It has the same Bluetooth features as the previous model, so you can follow the instructions of the expert team. This device in my Hyperice review also uses HyperSmart technology, which allows you to further customize your warm-up and recovery treatments.
The Hypervolt Plus includes:
- The same five attachments as the Hypervolt Bluetooth
- Bluetooth capabilities
- Attachment pouch
- Hypervolt Wall Charger
This specially designed device by Rocket has a 3-hour battery life and is virtually silent during use. This is something that I think sets Hyperice apart from other similar brands. It also has three speed settings and can deliver up to 3200 beats per minute.
The relief is much closer with the Hypervolt Plus, which sells for $486.
Hyperice Venom Review

The Hyperice Venom is a portable device with heat and vibration function that is ideal for warming up, soothing and relaxing sore muscles. The ergonomic, plush design[7] ensures a good and comfortable fit. As the device is adjustable, it also fits one size fits all.
The Venom relaxes tense muscles with its heat technology. I like to think of it as a warm, insulated bath for tired limbs, although I don’t know of any tubs that can also vibrate.
It can heat up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit within 90 seconds. Both the temperature and vibration settings can be controlled via the digital touchscreen. For maximum relief, the touchscreen also has a timer that automatically turns the device off after 20 minutes.
The Venom by Hyperice includes four vibration pods that offer three different vibration settings so you can get the relief you really need. This device retails for $270.
Who Is Hyperice For?
Hyperice prides itself on being suitable for elite athletes, fitness junkies and amateurs who want to get moving. Percussion and vibration therapy is a great tool that is available to everyone, and I appreciate that it saves you a trip to the massage therapist. They put the power of healing in your hands and can give you relief whenever you need it.
Anyone can use the Hyperice devices. But they may not be suitable for the elderly or children. The products have adjustable settings so that customization is possible.
It’s important to be mindful of how often you use your device because you shouldn’t be in pain when you use it. While I was looking around for this Hyperice review, I found it advisable to stay careful and relaxed to avoid possible injury,
Hyperice Reviews: What Do Customers Think?
After reading this Hyperice review, you’re probably wondering what customers think of Hyperice?
The brand is highly praised on Trustpilot, with an average of 4.4 out of 5 stars based on 426 reviews. Below you will find a snapshot:
- Excellent: 82%
- Great: 5%
- Average: 2%
- Poor: 1%
- Poor: 10%
In the comments, the majority of customers praise their devices and the excellent customer service. One reviewer who uses the Hypervolt regularly said:
“The Hypervolt is a great device to get rid of all the aches and pains from working out. And now that I have the Android app, I feel more confident that I am doing my massages correctly. This is an invaluable tool that I would recommend to anyone who works out regularly.”
Another commenter had some issues with the Hypervolt, but the brand’s customer service team addressed the buyer’s needs: “My Hypervolt started to fail after a year of use. I contacted Hyperice and they sent me a label to send it back to be replaced with a refurbished unit as I had requested.”
Their devices are also well rated on Amazon and rarely receive less than four stars. Hypervolt GO received 4.7 out of 5 stars out of 572 total reviews. One customer writes:
“I was expecting a massage with less power since it’s rechargeable, but it’s really strong! I have to run it on low most of the time so my back and shoulders don’t get sore. Very easy to hold and handle. Super fast shipping and top quality.”
At Best Buy, the Hypervolt has a 4.8/5 star rating from 2,262 buyers – 96% of whom would recommend it to others. One review read:
“The chiropractor I worked for owned one and when I left him I knew I needed one for myself. It is worth every penny! It’s the perfect remedy after a long day at work and the savior for those horrible knots. It’s a pretty sturdy device, it looks and feels strong, and it’s meant to last.”
So there you have it, folks. With powerful little devices that work like magic and excellent customer service, buyers of this brand really seem to love what they get.
Is Hyperice Worth It?
As I mentioned in this Hyperice article, percussive therapy is a simple and effective way to give your body some relaxation. It’s great for muscle recovery and can be easier to access than finding a massage therapist.
I would say that the Hyperice machines are worth a try. They can be expensive, which might scare off some fitness beginners. They can provide temporary relief for muscle pain, and I like that the products can be easily customized to your own needs.
If you are an athlete, avid runner or gym goer, I think the machines could be worth the investment. They are easy to transport and reliable whenever you need a treat.
Many professional athletes also believe in the effectiveness of Hyperice products. The fact that the company is endorsed by professional athletes from the NFL to the UFC is a pretty good sign.
