Overview of Made In
Made In is a relatively new brand based in the USA, founded in 2017 by brothers Chip and Jake in Austin, TX. They grew up in a family with a 100-year history in kitchen accessories.
I’d say a century of pots and pans is pretty impressive, and I can understand that it was important for the brothers to have a solid knowledge base before starting their own company. When they founded Made In, they did so with the intention of rethinking the kitchenware landscape they had grown up in.
By working with manufacturers in the US, France and Italy – the, oh my, best possible places in the world for making quality cookware – Chip and Jake made sure they chose family businesses that resembled the ones they grew up in.
Armed with a lifetime of experience and partners who have been making quality kitchenware for generations, Made In was off to a great start. But a lot has happened since then. Just over three years later, their kitchen appliances are used in several 3-star Michelin restaurants and hotel groups across America.
For the foodies among you reading this report on Made in Cookware: If you’ve never been to a Michelin star restaurant, you should definitely put this on your list. I once went to a 3-star Michelin bistro in Paris and had the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever tasted in my life. I still think back to it fondly.
But enough about me, let’s get back to what you actually came here for: the cookware. Made In’s specialty is clad stainless steel, and the company has made it their mission to build the highest performing 5-ply cookware and offer it for half the price of the competition.
In my years as an aspiring chef (I haven’t quite made it out of my own kitchen yet), I learned that plating, also known as “ply,” refers to the number of layers of metal on the bottom and sides of pots, pans, frying pans, etc. Plating creates an efficient and evenly heated cooking surface.
However, a higher number of layers does not necessarily mean higher quality. It is the overall distribution of the layers that has the greatest influence on heat distribution.
There’s a lot to understand when it comes to cookware, and I’ll unpack it all for you here. You’ll find details on the brand’s best-selling products shortly, but first, a summary of this Made In cookware review:
Highlights
- High quality, durable cookware and kitchen accessories
- Cookware is very efficient
- Products are offered at half the price of other premium cookware suppliers
- Useful information on cookware care on the website and blog
Made in Cookware Review
Why have just one high-performance pan when you can have a whole range? The stainless steel collection from Made In consists of frying pans and non-stick frying pans, a butter warmer, a sauté pan, saucepans, a saucier, soup pots and universal silicone lids.
My favorite part? All of the brand’s stainless steel cookware can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher. Next up in this Made In cookware review, I’ll look at the best-selling frying pans and sauceboats.
A quick note before I get started: you can pay for most Made In cookware in four installments with Klarna. You can find more information about this purchasing method in the FAQ section of this Made In cookware review. Ok, let’s get started then.
Made in Cookware Frying Pan Review
I was delighted to discover that the Made In carbon steel collection is just as extensive as the stainless steel one. It includes frying pans, a paella pan, a grill pan, a wok, a frying pan and a griddle, as well as pan sets and kits to make the job easier.
Made In’s carbon steel cookware is induction-suitable and also works on glass hobs. I would like to point out that carbon steel should be seasoned before use and should never be put in the dishwasher.
Klarna payments are available for everyone. I take a look at two of their most popular carbon steel frying pans.
Made in Cookware Knives Review
Just as I have found that the quality of pots and pans has an impact on the outcome of my meals, I have found that the same is true for knives. Have you ever cut with a dull blade? Then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
The Made In knives are available individually, with attractive handle options in red, gray and silver. As a lover of aesthetics, I appreciate this selection because I want my kitchen to look a certain way. You can also buy sets of paring and utility knives if you want to put together an extensive knife collection.
Made In also designs accessories that will take your kitchen to the next level. To keep your pots and pans in pristine condition, a stainless steel cleaner and a carbon steel seasoning wax are available.
Together with an elegant butcher block made of 100% maple wood, universal silicone lids for pans and pots, a handmade spoon made of beech wood, a tin pan and cookbooks, you can consider the Made In collection complete. Continue to the top sellers:
Made In Cookware Sets Review
I love the convenience of parcels. Why should it be any different with cookware? Made In has a range of best-selling cookware sets on offer that make buying your new kitchen equipment easy, affordable and, frankly, a no-brainer.
Let’s take a look at some of Made In’s most popular cookware sets.
Who is Made In Cookware for?
Everyone has to cook for themselves at some point in their lives, and Made In makes that process a little easier with thoughtful, durable design.
I especially appreciate that the cookware is durable and can be used by professionals, although anyone who wants to invest in quality cookware can use it. The pots and pans from Made In don’t tarnish easily and are effortless to clean. You will notice the difference these quality products make in the kitchen.
Since the brand is a little more expensive, I recommend you consider the facts in this Made In cookware review as well as your personal budget. Although this wasn’t always the case, the brand now ships worldwide.
Comparison: Made In Cookware vs. Caraway
When I look in my kitchen cupboard, I have a smorgasbord of cookware from different brands. On my journey through the world of cooking, I have learned that there is more than one brand worth buying from.
In this part of my Made In cookware review, I will compare the brand to Caraway.
Caraway cookware was founded in 2018 to be a simple, one-stop shop for reliable, non-toxic cookware. With sauté pans, saucepans, frying pans and Dutch ovens, this company has everything you need for a functional kitchen.
As both brands were founded just one year apart, they have had just as much time to perfect their product range and improve their services and products. So which company has made the biggest impact? I have thought about this:
- Caraway has an excellent product range, with many of their items being sold individually and in sets, similar to Made In.
- Caraway also offers a range of linens and accessories, including oven gloves, towels, aprons and heating pads. Made In has all of these accessories as well as glassware, knives, cookbooks and cleaning products.
What makes these two brands different? The materials from which the cookware is made.
Caraway uses ceramic for all its pans to avoid toxins, while Made In uses 5-ply carbon, clad steel and copper for its products. Although they differ, all of these materials are recognized as non-toxic.

As both companies offer an extensive range of products, the cookware sets are easy to compare in terms of price.
The Made In starter set (as we know) is $529 for 6 pieces, while Caraway is $395 for their cookware set, which includes 4 pieces.
Made In may look more expensive, but I’ve found that you get more with Made In’s cookware set than Caraway’s, so the average price per pan is lower. Also, Made In’s set includes a cleaning wax for proper care of the pans.
All in all, these brands know what they’re doing when it comes to high-quality cookware that is non-toxic and ergonomic in the kitchen.
If you’re looking for something sleek and modern, I highly recommend Caraway for your next upgrade. But if you’re looking for something classic, durable and long-lasting, then Made In is for you.
Made In Cookware Reviews: What Do Customers Think?
The major media praise Made In to the skies, but I think customer feedback is just as (if not more) important.
You can leave a review on the Made In cookware website, which has thousands of comments. Out of a total of 4260 reviews, 95% of customers gave Made In products 5 stars – something that immediately impressed me. Here are some testimonials from customers:
- Soup pot: “This is the BEST pot! This pot is fantastic and is used every day.”
- Sauteuse: “I’m glad I made the right decision to go with Made In. These pans are great and you can feel the quality.”
- Carbon steel pan: “I have the 10” and the 12” carbon steel pans. After I season them, they are really non-stick.
- Stainless steel frying pan: “This is a nice and heavy, durable, multi-layered pan at a great price. I enjoy frying and sautéing with it.”
- Knife set: “I bought three knife sets. I love the 8-piece chef’s knife. It’s well balanced, the handle is comfortable and it just looks good. The other two knives are also great to work with.”
All of that sounds great, but I won’t stop there in this Made In cookware review – I’ve searched for comments I found elsewhere on the internet.
Wired wrote a review of Made In cookware and found that “Made In pans varied widely during the test”. The author noted a “curvature” on some pans, while Made In claims to have smooth surfaces.
The Kitchen Witches also wrote a review of Made In cookware that was largely positive, with the exception of the price, although the author said that the cookware is “worth the money and is a company and product to be enthusiastic about.
The website The Cookware Advisor wrote that Made In delivers on its promise to provide high-quality cookware at an affordable price, and the brand received a “strong buy recommendation.”
Based on the reviews on and off the Made In website, I can confidently say that buying Made In cookware is a great choice.
Although the prices are high compared to cheaper cookware manufacturers, I believe you get what you pay for.
Is Made In Cookware Worth It?
Now that I have presented the bestsellers, compared this brand with others on the market and read some customer testimonials, I can proudly recommend this brand at this point in my Made In test report.
Given the wide range of products and practical cookware sets, this brand covers every need in the kitchen.
Some other points worth summarizing: Made In Cookware is also used in Michelin star restaurants, they are less expensive than most professional cookware brands, and there are even blogs on the brand’s website for care instructions, recipes, and protecting the cookware from heat.
However, it is important that I look at the reality of this cookware line, and that is the cost. While this cookware is quite expensive, it is still slightly cheaper than the average professional brand.
Buyers on a budget may avoid Made In because of the price, but I have found that a high quality cookware will always have a high price tag regardless of the brand name.
All in all, when it comes to cooking casually and professionally, I think Made In cookware is definitely worth a look.
