Who Am I
I’m Nea, a self-proclaimed sock fanatic who always has cold feet. Like the rest of the world, I need several different pairs of socks to match the many different shoes I wear, and it’s not uncommon for me to wear several pairs a day – one for going out, one for the gym and another for lounging around.
Funnily enough, that’s exactly the combination of socks I received from Bombas. I received a free pair of the No Show Socks, Ankle Socks and Calf Socks and immediately tried them out.
I should note that I’ve tried a few brands of socks in my life – mostly for the gym – so I was very excited to see how Bombas (a brand I greatly admire) performed. Here are the details of my experience from start to finish.
Shipping
My package arrived about 10 days after I ordered. I live in Calgary, so no matter what company I order from in the US, it usually takes that long.
Receiving & My Thoughts On Packaging
My Bombas socks arrived in simple shipping packaging. As they are socks, they don’t need any special packaging. I was also glad that I didn’t have to throw away the excess packaging. All in all, shipping and receiving went well, and the minimalist packaging was a plus.
My First Impressions
The socks themselves are individually wrapped with a paper sleeve with the brand’s logo and some basic information about the socks on the back. Simple, colorful – I liked it.
The socks themselves feel thick and stretchy, with the exception of the No Show socks, which are made of a thinner, lightweight material. As for the socks, they seem to be of good quality.
Bombas No Show Socks Review
I first tried the Lightweight No Show Socks with my casual sneakers. They are actually invisible.
What I like best about these socks is their construction. Unlike normal no-show socks, they are loose at the heel and tight in the middle. This special design ensures that they stay on my feet and don’t slip once while I was out on the town.
These socks sit a little higher on the foot than other no-show socks, but since I always wear sneakers and not mules or flats, I found this to be fine. The size medium was perfect for my size 8 ½ and I found the material comfortable and breathable.
The socks are made from cotton, polyester, spandex and nylon – a carefully tested blend – and are a real pro when it comes to not hurting your foot. Get a pair in S, M or L in 7 colors for $13.
Bombas Ankle Socks Review
I received the Ankle Socks in size M in gray/lavender and knew immediately that they would be comfortable. After putting them on, my feet felt nice and secure, and unlike my other socks where my sneakers rubbed against my heels, the Bombas did not.
They are thicker than the No Shows, but pretty standard for sports socks (and they are in my opinion). They provided nice cushioning in my running shoes, and even though they sweated during my workout, they still felt cool and comfortable.
The Ankle Socks are made of cotton, polyester and a touch of spandex and have a rubber grip on the inside ankle. Get them in sizes S-L in one of 5 color combinations for $13.
Bombas Calf Socks Review
These were my favorite socks from the package. I’ve had numerous ankle and foot injuries throughout my life – all on the right side – and when I put these socks on, my right ankle felt great. Don’t get me wrong, my left foot felt great too, but I really felt a difference in my right foot.
The Calf Socks have a thicker material in the foot area and a slightly thinner one in the calf area with an added elastic at the top to keep them up. And they stay up. I slept in these socks and they didn’t move an inch. The honeycomb compression around the arch of my foot was also very comfortable. I have a high arch, so I felt like these socks were just right for me.
The Bombas Women’s Originals Calf Socks are made of polyester, cotton and spandex and are available in baby pink and logwood in sizes S-L for $14.
What I Think About Bombas Socks
I am over the moon with my Bombas. The calf socks were my favorite, but I also really liked the cushioning of the ankle socks and the construction of the No Show Socks. The fact that Bombas donates a pair of socks for every pair purchased also means a lot to me, of course.
What I Liked About Bombas Socks
I really liked the construction of the socks from Bombas. The ankle and calf socks have a similar design and material, both with the brand’s signature honeycomb compression and a firm material that is both soft and supportive.
I would say that there is a slight difference in material between the ankle and calf socks (the calf socks are slightly thinner), and I really liked the feeling of compression around my arch and ankle when I wore the calf socks.
As someone who likes aesthetics, I was also pretty thrilled with my color choice. I chose gray/purple and gray/pink for the ankle and calf socks, and of course you can’t go wrong with white for the no show.
For the ankle socks, I liked the padding on the back of the heel. Not only does this provide cushioning when I’m wearing my running shoes, but it also serves as a handy tab to take the socks off. Overall, Bombas gets big points for design, material and color selection.
Would I recommend this brand to others?
I’ve been a fan of Bombas for a while now. I really like the company and I think they put a lot of thought and effort into making high quality socks that will last. The whole point of this brand is to provide something they can use to give back, and without a good product, they are much less likely to be able to do that.
I always recommend Bombas to people looking for socks, in fact they are usually one of the first names I mention. I like to support brands with good products and a good mission, so I have no problem supporting and recommending this brand. Read on to find out more about the brand and what they have to offer.
About Bombas
I don’t need to tell you that there are good and bad socks. The good ones are rare, but as soon as I put them on, I feel like I can take on the world. An exaggeration? No, I don’t think so.
Bombas makes good socks. And really good ones at that. The brand is dedicated to the basic, which is anything but basic. The brand, which offers an extensive collection of socks for men, women and children, has made it its mission to do and be better, donating one item to those in need for every sock purchased – 75 million to date.
Bombas’ efforts have undoubtedly earned them attention from media outlets like Women’s Health and Gear Patrol, but it’s their revolutionary socks that are making so many customers for life. Just ask their 679k+ social community.
Overview of Bombas
Bombas is a nationally recognized company. The brand carries a line of quality products that are aesthetically modest but vibrant. While they are essential products, from what I’ve seen, they are an absolute upgrade over the typical 3-packs from the supermarket.
Bombas socks review 1
What makes them so different? First and foremost, the seven different features included in each pair. Their goal was to create a blend of comfort and performance, so sweat wicking was a must, as was supportive stretch. Available in a variety of colors and simple patterns, Bombas offers a selection of exciting items that can keep up with your craziest days – don’t worry, slipping is not a problem here.
Creating the perfect pair of socks sounds like a simple task, but the founders of Bombas, David Heath and Randy Goldberg, didn’t take the easy way out. After launching in 2013, they appeared on the TV show Shark Tank just a year later to showcase their functional, funky socks. They struck a deal with Daymond John and business flourished.
But Daymond knew that the brand was always about more than just socks. Bombas focuses on the following four core values:
Advantages
- Large selection of socks, underwear and undershirts
- Styles for men, women and children
- Simple, sharp and aesthetically pleasing designs
- High quality fabrics and extensive testing
- Donates one pair for every pair purchased
- Free shipping
- Happiness guarantee
Cons
- More expensive than average socks
Where are Bombas Socks Made?
Bombas are made by some of the highest quality cotton and merino wool producers in the world. After the initial production steps, the socks are finished in China and then shipped to the USA.
The brand uses super-soft, long-staple yarns, and because the socks are made from wool and cotton, they are especially moisture-wicking and comfortable. Win.
Bombas Socks Styles
So far in this Bombas socks review, you’ve seen 3 of their most important models for women, but Bombas has much more to offer than that.
The collections for men and women also include quarter-high and knee-high models as well as socks made from merino wool and some with added compression. And let’s not forget the children’s collection, which includes comfortable socks for babies from 0-12 months up to children of 11 years.
In the next section of this Bombas socks review, I will introduce you to some of the best-selling models in detail.
Bombas Dress Socks review
In addition to the socks I’ve personally tried, Bombas also makes dress socks. With this model, you can expect the same comfort and support. Since Bombas is all about performance, this also applies to those morning rides on the ankle express and those hectic steps in the boardroom.
With a selection of calf-high, knee-high and ribbed styles, I combed through the seemingly endless styles in the men’s and women’s categories, all featuring signature honeycomb technology.
