Send a message to your coach/goal specialist with the word “quit” in the app (if you’ve downloaded it to your phone)
If you have the app installed, you can also tell your coach or goal specialist that you want a refund.
If you don’t have the app installed, log in to the subscription portal via your account on the website. From there, go to coach messages and say “cancel” or request a refund.
Remember that uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.

About Noom Diet Plan
According to a 2016 report by the World Health Organisation, 39% of adults worldwide are overweight and 13% are obese. Overweight and obesity are becoming another global health pandemic.
Obesity is a risk factor for metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and cardiovascular disease. A recent systematic review found that lasting weight loss can be achieved by changing dietary habits (reducing energy intake by cutting out unhealthy foods, reducing sugar and fat intake, portion control and increasing vegetable and fruit intake), increasing physical activity and making behavioural changes such as self-monitoring.
Noom is an app-based weight loss and health system that focuses on changing your habits, mindset and behaviour for the long term. It helps you control your weight by monitoring your diet and provides nutritional recommendations along the way.
While participating in the Noom diet plan, I learned that I would be working with experts and following a personalised plan tailored just for me. I would be part of the Noom community with others walking a similar path – a group of people who I read were incredibly supportive.
With all this in mind, I wondered if Noom was right for me. If you’re wondering the same thing, I recommend reading through this Noom diet plan review. I’ve gathered as much information about the brand as I could find, including details about the service, reviews and more.
Noom Pros & Cons
So what can you expect in this Noom diet plan review? Firstly, I’ll give you an insight into the pros and cons of the app and then go into the details of the subscription.
Pros
- Personalised plans: Noom offers personalised plans that are tailored to your specific dietary goals, preferences and health needs. This customisation allows for a more individualised approach to weight loss and can help you develop a plan that works best for you.
- Pricing Options: Noom offers a range of pricing options for different budgets. Prices start at $70 per month and range up to $209 for an annual membership. This flexibility allows you to choose a plan that fits your financial situation.
- Community and group support: Noom provides a sense of community by offering group support throughout the weight loss process. Being part of a community of people who are on a similar journey can provide motivation, encouragement and a platform to share experiences and challenges.
- Personal Coach: Each Noom user is assigned a personal coach to guide, support and assist them. A personal coach can help you stay motivated, answer questions and provide help when needed.
- Google Fit compatibility: Noom is compatible with Google Fit, a fitness tracking platform. This compatibility allows for convenient integration of your physical activity data and makes it easier to track and monitor your progress within the Noom app.
- Accountability: Noom helps you keep track of your goals through reminders and tracking tools. Regular check-ins, progress tracking and reminders can help you stay on track and maintain your commitment to the programme.
- Positive customer reviews: Noom has received many positive customer reviews indicating that the programme has been effective for numerous individuals in achieving their weight loss goals. Positive reviews give you peace of mind and confidence in the potential effectiveness of the programme.
Disadvantages
- Pace of weight loss: Although Noom promotes sustained weight loss, the pace of weight loss can vary from person to person. For some people, weight loss is slower than expected, which can be frustrating for those who want quick results.
- Expensive: Noom’s prices, which start at a minimum of $70 per month, can be higher than what some people are willing or able to spend on a weight loss programme.
- Potentially demeaning language: Even though Noom’s user experience is meant to be motivating, some people may find the language used in the app and on the website, such as ‘overcome your food triggers,’ to be demeaning. This gross oversimplification does not do justice to the complexity of the challenges faced by people who truly struggle with food triggers or emotional eating.
- No face-to-face option: If you prefer face-to-face coaching, Noom may not be the ideal choice for you. The programme relies solely on a chat service for communication, and there are no options for face-to-face or video coaching sessions.
- Coach Credentials: While Noom’s health coaches are credentialed by the National Consortium for Credentialing Health and Wellness Coaches (NCCHWC) and are trained through Noom’s ‘Noomiversity’ platform, they are not permitted to practice as certified nutritionists, registered dietitians, personal trainers, physicians or other certified health professionals outside of Noom’s independent education programme.
- Potential problems with the colour concept: Noom’s colour-coding approach to food selection may work well for some people. For others, however, it could lead to disordered eating habits or an unhealthy relationship with food. For example, if almond butter is categorised as a red food due to its calorie content, this may not accurately reflect its nutritional value and can lead to confusion or restriction.
It is important to remember that the effectiveness of Noom or other weight loss programmes may vary from person to person.
It is advisable to seek advice from a doctor before starting a weight loss programme and to consider your personal needs, goals and preferences when evaluating the pros and cons of Noom.
How Does Noom Work?
Noom helps you stay on track mentally and physically by taking control and responsibility for your diet. Over my years of dieting, I, like so many others, have found that this helps me succeed.
When you sign up, you’ll receive a Noom grocery list divided into three colour-coded categories to help you keep track.
How can I cancel my Noom subscription?
Not every relationship is meant to last forever. If you’re ready to cancel Noom and take matters into your own hands, simply follow the steps below:
You also get a dedicated coach, support from the community, useful articles and a spreadsheet where you can record your fitness and nutrition choices. I often felt like I was losing control of my food, like it was impossible to turn the wheel. With Noom, it’s easy to regain control.
The first download of the app is free, but I soon learnt that I had to take out a subscription to continue. I’ll get into that soon. Based on the goals you provide and the answers in the Noom quiz, the team at Noom will suggest the best plan for you.
If you want, Noom can even sync with other health apps to incorporate data (such as activity and food tracking) and give you a comprehensive overview of your day. A recent study looked at the link between engagement and weight loss in Noom users aged 35 to 85. Although younger adults were more engaged with the programme, older adults lost more weight than younger users. So you’re never too old to improve your health with this app.

Is Noom Free?
While I’ve found that you can use Noom without a subscription, you won’t have access to two of the most important features: the personalized coach and support from the Noom community[5]. Regardless of which plan you choose, you can also purchase add-ons to your subscription, such as meal plans to make your journey a little easier.
Next, I’d like to introduce you to Noom’s available subscription plans:
- 1 month
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 8 months
- 1 year
so many options, in this Noom diet plan review I’m focusing on the monthly recurring plan, the 6-month automatic recurring plan, and the yearly automatic recurring plan.
Not sure where to start? Take the survey on the Noom website to find out which plan is best for you.
How Much is a Noom Diet Plan?
Free trials are the name of the game. So that you can test the platform before you commit, I was happy to learn that Noom offers a 14-day free trial.
After that, you pay monthly or annually, depending on your plan. I’ve listed the prices of each below in this Noom diet plan review:
- $70 per month
- $129 for 2 months
- $169 for 4 months
- $179 for 6 months
- 189 € per 8 months
- 209 € per year
Noom Monthly Auto-Recurring Plan
Do you want to eat healthier? This Noom plan might be the best choice for you if you don’t know where to start. I’ve found that the monthly, auto-renewing subscription is a great way to start your journey to better health, and it includes all the tools you need to get started.
Each month you can track your activity and food, count calories using the color system, receive personal coaching and group support. The personal coach checks in to see if you’re reaching your weight loss goals, and I think it will be very valuable for people like me who need accountability.
Visit the group support channel to cheer on your comrades who are navigating the Noom process like you. Not all weight loss systems offer something like this, and that’s something I really like about Noom.
Do you think it’s a good fit? The subscription monthly auto-recurring plan is $70 per month. If you are looking to test out the Noom system, I think this is a great plan for you.
Noom 6-Month Auto-Recurring Plan
Want to make a longer commitment? To continue the work you’ve started and ensure that your weight loss becomes a lifestyle, a long-term plan like the 6-month auto-recurring plan can be of great benefit.
Just like the first plan, this system includes activity and food tracking, calorie counting advice, personal coaching and group support. All of these fantastic tools will help you achieve your goals.
If you are using this system for months at a time, the group support would be a fantastic benefit. For larger goals, a group of people going through the same thing can be one of the most helpful tools you can have.
Who is Noom For?
Noom is designed for people who want to achieve their weight loss goal and adopt healthier lifestyle habits.
The program is suitable for a variety of people with different needs and preferences. Here are some groups of people who can benefit from Noom:
- Individuals who want to reduce their weight: Noom is particularly well suited to people who want to lose weight in a sustainable way. The program focuses on long-term behavioral changes rather than quick fixes and is therefore suitable for people who want to change their lifestyle permanently.

It is important to note that while Noom is generally well suited to the groups mentioned above, the program may not be suitable for everyone.
Alternatives
While Noom is a popular weight loss program, there are several alternatives that offer different approaches to losing weight and promoting healthy habits.
Here are some notable alternatives to Noom:
- Weight Watchers (WW): Weight Watchers, now known as WW, is an established weight loss program based on a points system. It assigns point values to foods and encourages portion control and healthier eating habits. WW offers a variety of tools, support and a community for its members.
- Immudi Plan: The Immudi Plan is an anti-inflammatory eating plan that gives you tools to change your habits and achieve lasting change with its benefits. The focus is on anti-inflammatory foods such as vegetables, protein and fruit to help you continuously achieve your goals. With this steady and long-term change plan, you can achieve benefits such as weight loss, improved mood, better sleep and delaying the negative effects of aging on the body.
- MyFitnessPal: MyFitnessPal is a widely used app and website that allows users to track their food intake, exercise and overall diet. It offers a large food database, personalized goal setting, and fitness tracking device integration. MyFitnessPal offers a flexible approach to calorie tracking and provides community support.
- Jenny Craig: Jenny Craig is a commercial weight loss program that offers packaged meals and personalized advice. It offers portion-controlled meals, personalized support and guidance on nutrition, exercise and behavior change.
- Nutrisystem: Nutrisystem is a meal delivery program that offers portion-controlled meals and snacks. It offers a variety of plans tailored to different nutritional needs and goals. Nutrisystem emphasizes convenience and provides guidance on healthy eating and portion control.
These are just a few examples of weight loss programs and apps that offer alternatives to Noom.
It is important to consider your individual needs, preferences and goals when choosing a weight loss program. A consultation with a doctor can help you choose the best approach for your specific circumstances.
Noom Diet Plan vs. Weight Watchers
There are so many options when it comes to choosing a weight loss system, believe me, I’ve tried most of them. In this part of my Noom diet plan review, I will focus specifically on Noom compared to Weight Watchers.
Weight Watchers is a long-standing weight loss system that has now moved to a digital platform. The company uses a points system that gives you a certain number of points for your day and week based on your current height, weight, and goals.
With the app, you can search or scan foods and see how many points they are worth. You can use the app to log both your fitness and your diet. There are currently three different plans:
- Blue: the traditional system where you get several points per day and also foods with zero points.
- Purple: fewer points per day, but more zero points for food
- Green: more daily points and fewer zero-point foods
You can change your plan at any time. Here are the prices from Weight Watchers:
- Digital app: about $3 per week
- 360 app and WW coaches: about $7 per week and 30-day trial
- Unlimited workshop and digital access: about $6 per week
- Coaching and digital access: approx. $9 per week
Noom is referred to as Weight Watchers for millennials, and I can relate to that, but it has many more features.
I’ve found the subscription service to be similar to Weight Watchers in the sense that you track your daily food intake, but Noom takes it a step further by suggesting the best times to eat based on your metabolism, lifestyle, etc.
Noom uses a system where foods are sorted by color, based on their calorie and nutritional content, rather than using points. Orange foods have the highest calorie content, yellow foods contain meat and cheese (foods that should be eaten in moderation), and green foods are the foods that should be on your plate every day. The goal of this color-coded chart is to help make healthy and nutritious choices.
Noom also offers coaches who check in regularly with personalized messages and offer comprehensive support. I learned that you also get schedules with checklists, quizzes and articles to read. To me, it’s definitely more of a lifestyle system than a weight loss system. The price for Noom is $59 per month.
During this review of the Noom diet plan, I realized that when comparing Weight Watchers and Noom, it really comes down to your personal preferences. Both systems are about more than just weight loss, while Noom takes it a step further by incorporating psychological wellness.
The goal of both systems is to help you make healthy choices for the long term without restrictions, and I really appreciate that. However, if you don’t like counting calories, Noom may not be the right choice for you.
It’s important to note that Noom’s subscription costs more than Weight Watchers, but it also offers more through its platform. Noom is ideal for those who want to focus on the mental side of health and weight loss, but I would like to note that both systems offer free trials and come with great results.
While searching for feedback, I discovered that Noom Google reviews include both Reddit and Trustpilot. In this part of my Noom diet plan review, although there are tons out there, I’m going to focus on the commentary found from these two reliable sources.
I was very pleased to find that Noom has exceptionally good ratings on Trustpilot with a total of 4.2/5 stars out of 61,428 reviews. The 2020 Noom reviews on this site are overwhelmingly positive, with customers sharing their success stories.
Customers were thrilled with how Noom changed their “thought processes about food, accountability to a real person” and the “psych tips” offered. Some even referred to Noom as “therapy”. This is exactly what I love about Noom and why it’s so unique.
Next, for this Noom diet plan review, I took a look at one of the many Noom Reddit threads. After scanning the comments, it seems that Noom reviews Reddit were overall positive. I’m happy to say that many customers have found success in losing weight. “Imagine having a partner to support you,” wrote one.
Below is a Noom before and after photo showing amazing results:
With tons of visual evidence and an endless flow of positive feedback, I was really happy with what I found for this part of my Noom diet plan review. Although, based on my first impression of the brand, I’m not too surprised that it’s proving beneficial for so many.
Is Noom Worth It?
It’s important that I deal with facts in this review of the Noom diet plan, so I turned to a source that clearly lays out the facts for me.
In a clinical study examining the effectiveness of this method among 35,921 Noom users, researchers found that 78% of users lost weight, with 22.7% losing more than 10% of their body weight.
Cognitive and behavioral strategies such as self-monitoring have proven to be effective in weight loss. This app makes self-monitoring easier because you don’t have to use a paper diary.
Although thousands of users have benefited from this program, more research is needed as current studies do not provide high-quality scientific evidence. Many current app programs lack much of the evidence-based behavioral strategies recommended for the treatment of obesity and overweight.
So is Noom worth it? If you’ve tried other weight loss systems and haven’t had success, I’d say it’s worth it. Over the course of this Noom diet plan review, I’ve learned that unlike other systems, Noom mentally supports you to improve your relationship with food.
A personal coach and a community included with your subscription are two unique features that I really love about Noom. However, I should point out that a health coach doesn’t have the same training and knowledge as a registered dietitian. If you don’t like counting calories, have a guilty conscience, or hate logging every meal, this system may not be for you. But if you’re looking for flexible and sustainable weight loss, with over 30,000 exceptional customer reviews, I think this program might help you find it.
Noom Promotions & Discounts
While I haven’t found any current discount codes for Noom, there is a free 7-day trial of Noom that allows you to test the services for free. And if you take out a subscription for several months or an annual subscription, you get a discount.
FAQ
What does Noom actually do?
When you look at so many weight loss services, it can happen that they all blur together at some point. I get it. Noom is an app that helps you monitor what you eat with the help of a coach and the support of the Noom community.
It’s a long-term system that changes your mindset and helps you lead a healthier lifestyle by making the right choices (also known as ‘mindful eating’).
What is the Noom diet?
In this review of the Noom diet plan, I found out that the diet is a personalized weight loss and health system that supports and motivates you to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Based on personalized questions, Noom develops a personalized diet and allows you to track what you eat. Worried about missing pizza night? I had that too. The good news is that you can eat all the foods you love in moderation. The color system helps you make the right choices.
Is there a free version of Noom?
Yes, I was thrilled when I found out that you can use the app for free. After the 14-day free trial of Noom, there is no coach or group in the free version, but you can still record food and exercise and weigh yourself.
How long does the Noom program last?
The Noom program runs for 16 weeks, but I’ve learned that you can continue the program for as long as you want. Each part lasts a certain number of weeks, depending on your goals.
Does the Noom diet plan offer meal plans?
The Noom diet plan service does not include a fixed price meal plan. You can add an option for a meal plan that is delivered in 2-week increments.
What are orange foods on Noom?
Noom categorizes foods into color groups: Orange, Yellow or Green. Orange foods are foods with the most calories and the least nutrients. The brand recommends eating 25% of these foods. Examples of these foods are some of my favorites like French fries, pizza, nuts, cake and full-fat dairy products.
Noom Yellow Foods are foods that are neither extremely low nor high in calories, but fall in the middle. These include foods such as lean meats, low-fat dairy products and beans.
In this diet you should eat 45% yellow foods. Green foods are very low calorie foods such as fruit, vegetables and protein. It is recommended that you eat about 30% of these foods every day.
How can I restart Noom?
Things happen, and I’m always grateful when I can take a break. If you want to restart a week of Noom, you can send your goal specialist a message in the chat and let them know what you want to restart. If you’re using the Noom app on Android or iOS, you can restart from the beginning (see photo below).
How can I cancel my Noom subscription?
Not every relationship is meant to last forever. If you’re ready to cancel Noom and take matters into your own hands, simply follow the steps below:
Send a message to your coach/goal specialist with the word “quit” in the app (if you’ve downloaded it to your phone)
If you have the app installed, you can also tell your coach or goal specialist that you want a refund.
If you don’t have the app installed, log in to the subscription portal via your account on the website. From there, go to coach messages and say “cancel” or request a refund.
Remember that uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.
You’ll still have access to your Coach until the end of the billing period, but you won’t be charged again once you’ve requested a cancellation.
